Something old

Blue Box's Cyrano is a vibrant and inclusive reimagining of Edmond Rostand's timeless play.

This play may be our "old" show, but we seek to breathe new life into the classic tale of love, identity, and self-acceptance.

The story follows Cyrano, a skilled poet and charismatic figure, whose insecurity about their unconventional appearance leads them to court their true love behind the face of another.

A new take on the Play by Edmond Rostand, cut by Grace Siplon

Directed by Cameron Waters

Performed at Honey Suckle Teahouse August 23-25, and The Center for Regenerative Agriculture Aug 30-Sep 1 and Sep 6-8.

Reviews for CYRANO

Dustin K. Britt, for Chatham Life & Style

“Blue Box's Cyrano captures all of the comedy, poetry, and vivacity of the original work, using textual edits and conscious casting to unearth questions about gender perception and what happens when the queers get just a little too cocky for our own good. That queerness, not an Achilles nose, is a welcome new flavor in a familiar dish.”

Kurt Benrud for Triangle Review

“Cyrano is a feast of language that everyone should experience -- poetic and beautiful. In addition, it is a story that everyone should hear. The Blue Box Theatre Company serves the feast and tells the story with aplomb..”
